PHNOM PENH, Cambodia โ€” A shareholder in YY Capital Partners Co., Ltd. has formally requested Cambodiaโ€™s Ministry of Justice to intervene in a dispute involving the companyโ€™s chairman, Yamada Taihei, alleging serious financial misconduct and breaches of trust.

In two letters sent to authorities, the investor claims he was defrauded and financially harmed by Yamada, a Japanese national who leads the companyโ€™s board. The letters allege that Yamada manipulated business operations for personal gain, including inflating prices on multiple real estate deals in Cambodia. Preliminary findings cited by the investor suggest that around $4 million may have been misappropriated.

The investor also accuses Yamada of creating fictitious business transactions, including loans totaling over $7 million, and using document forgery and shell companies to divert funds. Some money, according to the letters, was transferred to an overseas bank account in the name of Yamadaโ€™s wife, Ye Jun.

Further allegations claim Yamada set up shell companies in Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, and Cambodia, using nominees while controlling the bank accounts and financial flows himself.

In Cambodia, prosecutors have reportedly filed criminal charges in at least two cases involving Yamada and others, and certain assets and bank accounts have been frozen under court orders. The letters indicate that additional investigations are ongoing and that authorities in several other countries โ€” including China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and the United States โ€” are also examining allegations of embezzlement, breach of trust, document forgery, and money laundering.

The investor urged Cambodian authorities and courts to conduct thorough investigations, expressing concern that suspects might attempt to evade justice, intimidate witnesses, or destroy evidence.

The situation continues to develop, and the claims have yet to be fully tested in court.
